Long Live The Statement Sleeve and Other Life Lessons for 2017

Happy New Year you little loves! It feels like a lifetime since my last post - Christmas and New Year flew by in a blink of an eye and I've been a bit lazy in my content creation as I was mostly full of mince pies and pigs in blankets. I'll be honest, I tried to do some photos last weekend but literally couldn't face standing in the middle of Seven Dials and pretend to be a sassy diva when I felt like I'd had my insides scooped out after a rather heavy NYE... so here we are, but I'm back and ready to tackle the new year head on!
2016 was the year of the statement sleeve, and it shows no sign of giving up just yet. I walked past this fabulously 80s dress in the window of & Other Stories on the way to work every day this week, gazing longingly at its billowy sleeves and cutesy polka dots and felt we really had to be united as one. As someone who rarely, if ever, wears dresses, I'm super impressed by its thick cotton material and form-fitting-but-not-quite-body-con shape. It nips in and is bloody massive in all the right places - the goldilocks dress that's pretty darn hard to come by. It's taught me that I can dress a little more girly and not feel massively conspicuous, which is something I'd like to employ more in my outfit choices in 2017.
2016 has been a year of many life lessons, as every year is. I wrote about what I learned in 2015 last year, so here's what nuggets of wisdom I've picked up in 2016 and hope to live by this year:

- Nothing worth having ever comes easily

- Worry less, do more

- Utilise who you know to the max

- Cut everything that doesn't make you happy out of your life

- Everyone is just winging it a bit, no matter how senior you are

- Shoot for the moon and aim high

- Be confident and proud of who you are and what you've achieved

- Family is precious and I want to spend more time with my parents and brother this year

- You're doing OK

What life lessons did you learn in 2016? I'd love to hear them!

  1. Super cut & Other Stories dress!

  2. LOVE the sleeves! Also love the phrase "shoot for the moon and aim high". I learned last year that I need to stop caring what people think and go for what I want! x
